Mobilization Guide: How to Mobilize Your Community to Make Food Fight for Freedom
A short typed guide from two US wartime agencies, written for local nutrition and consumer committee chairmen ahead of Food Fights for Freedom Month in November.
What it is
A short typed guide from two US wartime agencies, written for local nutrition and consumer committee chairmen ahead of Food Fights for Freedom Month in November. It argues that the separate appeals to grow and preserve food, stop waste, eat right, give ration stamps and respect ceiling prices had never been told as one story. Goal 1 is that every citizen understand seven basic food facts. Goal 2 is nine actions under the slogan Produce and Conserve, Share and Play Square. Three named local officials are told to meet, form one citizens' Food Committee from press, radio, religious, labor, farm, business and other groups, and elect a chairman. The guide then lists November activities: home visits by trained block leaders carrying a folder and a Food Quiz, meetings, a play, school projects, awards, parades and poster contests. It ends with a tool kit and an order blank.
Why read it now
This is a franchise playbook for a national message. The centre supplies the facts, the slogan, emblem mats, radio scripts, ad copy for local sponsors and a canvasser training guide; each town supplies the people, the meetings and the list of local projects. Brands that run campaigns through branches, distributors or ambassadors face the same split, and the guide's answers still work: one accountable committee rather than a loose alliance, every order signed by one chairman to avoid duplication, and a local sheet telling people exactly when and where to go. Its claim that a personal visit carries a message best matches field experiments on voter turnout by Gerber and Green, where door-to-door canvassing beat mail and phone calls. What has dated: wartime compliance could lean on patriotism and rationing law, which few campaigns have, and the guide sets no targets and no way to measure changed behaviour. Use: for a multi-city launch, send each local lead one pack with the message, the materials, an order form and the names of three people to meet first.

Community action is the heart and soul of the entire food education program.
القرار المركزي لا يكفي، فنجاح الحملة يعتمد على مبادرات كل مجتمع محلي بأفكاره وخياله.
