Booth's broiled sardines tin label
The pattern
This still is filed under Campaign line as series.
Define
One line that can be replayed across executions so the campaign is a family, not a one-off.
Mechanism
Repeatable frame. Each ad is a verse. The line is the chorus. Recognition compounds because the structure is stable.
Verdict
We will run more than one execution and need them to add up in memory.
Why it works
The sign does not sell sardines, it sells a pairing, and the pairing is the merchandising instruction. The beer anchors the right end, the open tin anchors the left, and the brand fills the gap between them, so the eye travels package to name to occasion in one sweep with no backtracking. Three type treatments carry three separate messages without a rule or a box: yellow sans for the appetite hook, cream slab for identity, orange for the usage line. On navy, cream and yellow are the highest-contrast choices available in a flat-colour run, which is what a sign read from across a room requires.
Steal this when
Use this when the product is cheap, familiar and bought on impulse, and growth has to come from attaching it to a moment the buyer is already in. Name the occasion in the headline area and show both halves of that occasion inside the same frame.
