The pattern

This still is filed under Image carries the claim.

Define

One image does the entire argument. Copy, if any, is a caption, not a second ad.

Mechanism

Pictorial claim. The picture is readable as a sentence. If we need a paragraph, we picked the wrong picture.

Verdict

The idea is visual and the surface is a poster, a feed, or a silent frame.

Read the pattern

Why it works

Most of the ad is a drawing of a boy leaping for a basketball, arms up and sweating, so the reader sees an active, healthy son before any claim is made. The caption under the picture then assigns the credit: the carbolic soap protects his health, which turns a plain household bar into a guard for the family. The pack is drawn large with its pyramid mark and the brand name is set in heavy calligraphy, so the shopper knows exactly which box to ask for.

The big idea

An athletic boy in good health owes it to the soap: Pyramid Guard carbolic soap protects his health, the best protection there is.

The offer

Al-Haram al-Hares carbolic soap, sold in a box marked with a pyramid, made by Joseph Crosfield and Sons of Warrington, England.

The proof

The English maker's name in the footer: Joseph Crosfield and Sons, Warrington, England.

Lines from the ad

رياضى وبصحة جيدة

Athletic and in good health

صابون فنيك الهرم الحارس يحمى صحته

Pyramid Guard carbolic soap protects his health

خير وقاية للصحة

The best protection for health

Steal this when

Use it when a routine hygiene product can be tied to a picture of the result parents want for their children.

The emotion

Written to Love. It does neither clearly.

A healthy boy leaping for a basketball fills the page, but the caption hands the credit to the soap as his guard, so the parent's care never appears as something done.
