Almarai: the milk emoji we have isn't the milk we drink
almarai · Instagram · https://www.instagram.com/almarai/p/DcialHIjkm6/ · Embedded from Instagram
The pattern
This commercial ad is filed under Image carries the claim.
Define
One image does the entire argument. Copy, if any, is a caption, not a second ad.
Mechanism
Pictorial claim. The picture is readable as a sentence. If we need a paragraph, we picked the wrong picture.
Verdict
The idea is visual and the surface is a poster, a feed, or a silent frame.
Why it works
The ad borrows a familiar online comparison layout, الايموجي المطلوب beside الايموجي الموجود, the emoji we want next to the emoji we have: a generic glass of milk on one side, an Almarai bottle drawn in emoji style on the other. The joke is a brand claim in disguise, that milk means this bottle, and the bowl of cereal and berries below puts the product where it is actually used without a word of selling.
The big idea
Milk deserves its own Almarai emoji: the generic glass we have is set beside the Almarai bottle we want.
Lines from the ad
الايموجي المطلوبThe emoji we want
الايموجي الموجودThe emoji we have
Steal this when
Use it when your pack is iconic enough to be drawn as an emoji, and a playful wish for a missing symbol can claim that you own the category.
The emotion
Written to Amusement. It makes the Say move.
Setting a generic milk glass, the emoji we have, beside an Almarai bottle drawn as the emoji we want makes a joke that only works with the product: milk means Almarai.
