The Boston Sunday herald, ladies want it Feb 24 - poster
The pattern
This still is filed under Reason-why.
Define
A specific reason the offer is priced, timed, or structured this way. Not a mood. A reason.
Mechanism
Justification. A concrete cause makes a claim feel earned. Because we overbought. Because the season ends Sunday.
Verdict
The price or the ask looks irregular
Why it works
The call to action does three jobs in five words: it names the audience, asserts demand as a fact rather than a request, and fixes a date so the poster expires and forces action on a specific day. Social proof and deadline in one line, with no argument attached. The image supports it by showing consumption rather than the product, the white newspaper the only pure white on the sheet so the eye lands there first. Three flat colours and a hard profile silhouette keep the whole thing readable across a street.
Steal this when
Copy this for any dated release or issue that has no feature worth arguing. Name the buyer, state their appetite as fact, attach the date, and pair it with an image of someone already using the thing rather than an image of the thing.
