The pattern

This still is filed under Headline · visual lockup.

Define

Headline and picture are one sentence. Remove either half and the claim disappears.

Mechanism

Lockup. The line names what the image will not. The image shows what the line cannot. They are not redundant.

Verdict

We have a picture that completes a short line: wit, contrast, or a second meaning.

Read the pattern

Why it works

The opening is a set of imperatives, clear the table, bring in the TV, plug it in, so the reader mentally installs the product before being asked to consider buying it. The copy then runs a deliberate ladder, from an evening of play through household records to advanced peripherals, which lets one ad address the beginner and the expert without either feeling written past. Ready to grow with you is an answer to the real 1977 objection, obsolescence, and the expansion list plus the promised floppy interface makes that answer concrete. Segregating every number into a tinted specification panel is the structural trick: the running copy stays plain-English and benefit-led while the technical buyer gets a complete datasheet without the persuasion being interrupted, and the two prices let the page sell the finished appliance without losing the hobbyist.

Steal this when

Use this when one page has to convert both a nervous beginner and a specification-checking expert. Run plain-language benefit copy in the main columns, quarantine every number in a visually separate panel, and open with second-person imperatives that install the product in the reader's room.
