The pattern
This still is filed under Specimen as proof.
Define
A specimen (type, material, finish) is shown so the product proves itself under comparison.
Mechanism
Controlled display. Same conditions, side by side, no adjective required. The sample is the sentence.
Verdict
Buyers choose by eye or by hand and we can put the real thing in front of them.
Why it works
The name sits in huge letters inside a pale arch at the top, and a single blade, drawn many times life size, cuts up into the arch from below. The reader inspects the edge, the slots and the finish as if holding it, which backs the copy's claim of a sharper, smoother shave. Two small razor drawings show which handles the blade fits, answering the last practical question.
The big idea
One blade, drawn huge, stands for the whole claim: Blue Gillette is the secret of the ideal shave, and its keen edge gives many extra shaves per blade.
The offer
Blue Gillette razor blades, made in England, for the two razor types pictured beside the words "for these razors".
The proof
An enlarged drawing of the blade itself, "Made in England", and the claim that each blade gives many extra shaves thanks to its keen edge.
