Why it works
The specimen never shows an ornament alone; it shows each one already tiled into a full-measure run, which is the only state the buyer will ever use it in, so the sample is the deliverable. Numbering every band turns a decorative shape into an orderable part number - a printer can specify size and number without describing anything. Sequencing plates by body size, Canon down to Nonpareil, imposes a single navigable axis on a catalogue of otherwise unrelated shapes, so the buyer searches by the job in hand rather than by taste. The one built-up panel does what rows cannot: it proves the parts combine into a whole.
Steal this when
Use this structure when you sell a modular component - icons, page sections, fittings, tile, blocks - and the buyer's real question is what it looks like assembled and repeated, not what one unit looks like. Show every unit at working scale, tiled as it will actually be used, numbered so that ordering needs no description.
