The pattern

This still is filed under Specimen as proof.

Define

A specimen (type, material, finish) is shown so the product proves itself under comparison.

Mechanism

Controlled display. Same conditions, side by side, no adjective required. The sample is the sentence.

Verdict

Buyers choose by eye or by hand and we can put the real thing in front of them.

Why it works

The Address weaponises the underdog position before a single fount is shown: it names the obstacle (four incumbent founders with large capital and a standing agreement), explains why that hurts the reader's own business, then presents the new foundry as the reader's remedy rather than the founder's ambition. The pay-the-casters passage is a reason-why proof, not a virtue claim, because it is tied directly to product quality through a chain the printer can check. The specimen pages then do the arguing by demonstration, one fount per page with nothing to compare against but itself, and the setting words are chosen for maximum letter contrast rather than for meaning, so the buyer sees the face at its best.

Steal this when

You are the new entrant against an incumbent cartel or a cosy trade norm, and your real story is why their arrangement costs the buyer money. Lead with the obstacle you faced, name the practice, then let the product do the rest of the talking page by page.
