Why it works
Attribution is the engine. By naming an inventor for each script, the book reframes a commercial inventory as custody of the alphabets of civilisation, which is a status argument no competitor's stock list can answer. Showing each fount inside an identical ruled frame imposes a single visual grammar across scripts that share nothing, so Gothic, Greek, Arabic and roman all read as members of one collection rather than as oddities. Setting the Latin founts with liturgical and patristic text rather than filler quietly demonstrates the exact job the press is bidding for. And naming a fount after the dedicatee, Barberino, flatters the patron into permanent typographic existence, which is the oldest form of a sponsored asset.
Steal this when
Use this when you hold a large, varied capability and the risk is that it reads as a shapeless list. Give every item an identical frame and a one-line provenance or origin story, and the catalogue turns into a claim of authority. It also works when the real target is a single funder rather than the general reader.
