Verdict
Buyers choose by eye or by hand and we can put the real thing in front of them.
Why it works
Setting the identical Cicero passage at every body size is a control: the buyer can lay this book beside Caslon's and judge the cut, the fit and the colour with the copy held constant, which is exactly what the Advertisement invites him to do. Naming the sizes by trade name and body rather than by measurement speaks the customer's working vocabulary and lets him order without conversion. The royal appointment on the title page does status work before a single letter is seen. In the ornament section the price is set directly over each cut, so browsing and buying are the same act - no reference back to a separate list, and no reason to hesitate between wanting the image and knowing its cost.
Steal this when
Reach for this structure when your product is a range rather than a single item and the buyer's real question is breadth plus quality: hold the sample content identical across every variant, label in the buyer's own units, and print the price on the specimen itself. The invitation to compare rather than believe is the right move whenever a rival is the actual reference point in the customer's head.
