Effective House Organs
The pattern
This still is filed under Craft-argument book.
Define
A book or manual that sells a method by arguing it. Chapters as proof, not as decoration around a product.
Mechanism
Authority by treatise. The reader who accepts the argument has already accepted the seller as teacher.
Verdict
We can teach a craft in public and the teaching is the funnel.
Why it works
Ramsay refuses the house organ as a thing apart and files it inside the general advertising plan, which reframes an internal indulgence as a budget line that must return. The book is split principle first, practice second, then a chapter per trade, so a wholesaler or a bank reads eighteen pages about itself instead of a general theory. Proof is carried by figure plates that set a correct and an incorrect example on the same leaf and let the eye convict the bad one before the caption does. The appendices answer the objection the buyer will actually raise, does it pay, with costs and collected results rather than argument.
Steal this when
You are selling an internal stakeholder on owning a channel, a company magazine, a customer newsletter, a client-facing publication, and the real objection is that it is a soft expense. Copy the shape: principles, then a section per industry so the reader finds himself, then a hard costs-and-returns appendix at the back.
