What girl does not use it? (2 page images)
The pattern
This still is filed under Reason-why.
Define
A specific reason the offer is priced, timed, or structured this way. Not a mood. A reason.
Mechanism
Justification. A concrete cause makes a claim feel earned. Because we overbought. Because the season ends Sunday.
Verdict
The price or the ask looks irregular
Why it works
The headline works by inversion: instead of claiming everybody uses it, it dares the reader to identify herself as the exception, which turns product adoption into group membership. The word not is italicised so the challenge cannot be misread as a survey question. Flanking the main copy with two signed letters from named towns makes the code claim look reported rather than asserted, and each letter is a scene with a place and a stake, the country club drive and the eighteenth hole, not a compliment. Calling the cream a guardian angel and stating plainly that it is different from cleansing and nourishing creams defines a new product category so the reader does not slot it beside what she already owns.
Steal this when
Use this when the real barrier is that your product looks like a category the buyer already owns and skips. Define it against the neighbouring categories in one line, then surround the claim with dated, named, situational letters rather than star testimonials.
