Bauhausbucher series announcement
The pattern
This still is filed under Price-anchoring offer.
Define
A higher reference number is shown first so the real price reads as a concession, not as a starting bid.
Mechanism
People judge a price against the first number they see. The anchor must be a real comparison or it collapses.
Verdict
We have a credible reference the buyer will accept
Why it works
The photograph sells before a word is read, because eight finished objects in one picture make the series look complete rather than announced. Type size is used as a ladder, with the publisher small and the series name largest, so a skimmer takes away the one fact that matters and can stop there. The two thick vertical rules do the job of a ruled table without boxing the type, keeping the page modern while staying scannable line by line. Printing the illustration count beside each price turns an abstract book into a countable quantity, and the two price columns reframe the cost as a choice of binding instead of a decision to buy.
Steal this when
Use when you sell a numbered set at different prices and one page has to show the whole range, justify each price and let the buyer pick a line. Photograph of the complete set on top, size ladder into the offer, ruled price table underneath.
