Gustav Cords Frauenmode (women's fashion) - poster
The pattern
This still is filed under Image carries the claim.
Define
One image does the entire argument. Copy, if any, is a caption, not a second ad.
Mechanism
Pictorial claim. The picture is readable as a sentence. If we need a paragraph, we picked the wrong picture.
Verdict
The idea is visual and the surface is a poster, a feed, or a silent frame.
Why it works
The sentence is broken so the reader must travel top to bottom to finish it, and the picture is placed in the gap; you cannot complete the line without looking at the woman reading. Hohlwein removes nearly all the face, which forces the hat to carry identity and status on its own and leaves the cheapest possible ink coverage doing the heaviest work. The claim is pure bandwagon, and it is stated as settled fact rather than argued, which gives nothing to disagree with.
Steal this when
Reach for this when the product is already widely adopted and the real job is to make the non-adopter feel conspicuous. Also steal the split-sentence layout when you want one image to sit inside a headline instead of beside it.
