The pattern

This still is filed under Image carries the claim.

Define

One image does the entire argument. Copy, if any, is a caption, not a second ad.

Mechanism

Pictorial claim. The picture is readable as a sentence. If we need a paragraph, we picked the wrong picture.

Verdict

The idea is visual and the surface is a poster, a feed, or a silent frame.

Read the pattern

Why it works

The headline is split across the image so the noun sits on top and the consequence underneath, and the reader has to pass through the picture to complete the sentence. Freezing the moment before impact rather than showing the injury keeps the plate usable on a shop wall while leaving the outcome to the viewer, which is the more durable kind of fear. The two faces do the argument: the joker is relaxed and the victim is already terrified, so blame is assigned in one glance without a word of moralising. The series number and the purchase line turn a warning into a subscription product.

Steal this when

Use this when the behaviour you want stopped is socially normal and nobody thinks of it as dangerous. Show the instant before the consequence, split the headline around the image so it reads as cause then effect, and name the institution behind it so it is instruction rather than opinion.
