A Turn of the Hand (Rural Electrification Administration poster)
The pattern
This still is filed under Image carries the claim.
Define
One image does the entire argument. Copy, if any, is a caption, not a second ad.
Mechanism
Pictorial claim. The picture is readable as a sentence. If we need a paragraph, we picked the wrong picture.
Verdict
The idea is visual and the surface is a poster, a feed, or a silent frame.
Why it works
The headline prices the benefit in effort rather than naming the equipment - the whole promise is the ratio between a wrist turn and the labour it replaces, and the phrase was already common speech, so it arrives borrowed rather than written. The photograph closes the loop inside one frame: the hand is on the tap, the water is already running, the animal is already drinking, so cause and payoff are read simultaneously and no caption is needed. The tilted banner is the only element off the horizontal in an otherwise strictly ruled layout, which is why it is read first. The blue and cream stripes keep the flag motif running through the series without stating it.
Steal this when
Use this when the real sell is effort removed rather than a feature added: name the effort in the headline, then show the action and its result in a single photograph so the claim needs no proof paragraph.
