The pattern
This still is filed under Iconic figure claim.
Define
A single figure, drawn, silhouetted, or posed, is the whole claim. You can read it across a street.
Mechanism
Compression into a body. The figure is not decoration. It is the sentence. Distance-legibility is the test.
Verdict
Poster scale, outdoor, packaging at a glance
Why it works
One ambiguous object does the whole job: the box reads as jewel case and as coffin at the same time, and the poster never resolves which, so the viewer completes the premise themselves. The white cross on the lid is drawn as an ordinary cast shadow and works as a resurrection sign, which is how the poster says rebirth without printing the word. Colour is rationed to three values so the red title is the only thing that can take the eye after the figure. Nothing describes the plot, which is exactly what a film built on withheld information needs.
Steal this when
When the promise is uncomfortable, spoilable or impossible to state in a sentence, compress it into one ambiguous object and let the reader name it. Right whenever explaining the product would destroy its appeal.
