Compression into a body. The figure is not decoration. It is the sentence. Distance-legibility is the test.

Why it works
The figure is placed at the near edge with his back to us and his eyes on the rooftops, so the viewer inherits his sightline and the poster's subject becomes the city as seen by a newcomer rather than the society doing the helping. The picture plane is then cut in two - the massed roofs below, the open white panel above - and the lettering is dropped into the void the figure is looking at, so the name of the society literally occupies the thing he is facing. The diagonal light beam runs from the type down toward him and is the only element crossing that division, which is the whole argument made as geometry rather than as copy.
Steal this when
Use this for a cause or membership organisation whose offer is belonging and whose audience will not respond to a benefit claim. Put the person you serve in the foreground facing away, give them something to look at, and set your name in the space they are looking into so the reader arrives at it along the figure's own line of sight.
