Why it works
Depth is produced by colour temperature alone. The near mass is saturated green with black-green shadow, the middle peaks are pink, the far range is barely tinted - three steps, no outlines, no atmospheric tricks beyond dilution. The short vertical dashes across the foreground establish scale in one gesture: without them the massif could be any size. The single hard-edged coloured patch on the slope is the sheet's one man-made note and pulls the eye to it precisely because everything else is loose. As swipe material this is a lesson in scaling by texture rather than by drawing.
Steal this when
Use this when you need to show enormous scale in a simple image and cannot rely on a figure or an object for reference. Step the colour temperature back in three clear bands and drop one small hard-edged, saturated element into the field as the scale key.
