The pattern

This still is filed under Iconic figure claim.

Define

A single figure, drawn, silhouetted, or posed, is the whole claim. You can read it across a street.

Mechanism

Compression into a body. The figure is not decoration. It is the sentence. Distance-legibility is the test.

Verdict

Poster scale, outdoor, packaging at a glance

Why it works

Everything behind the figure is flattened to silhouette and a single dusk tone, which pushes one lit, coloured body forward and makes her the only thing in focus. The pose does the characterisation, hands on hips, cigarette, torn skirt, crossed leg, so the audience gets genre, class and attitude without a line of copy. Title placement is a sandwich, venue on top, play on the bottom, with the character trapped between them, which forces the eye down through the image to the name. The red of the title is picked up in her skirt, tying the lettering to the figure instead of letting it sit as a separate caption bar.

Steal this when

Use this when a story property has one character everyone will remember, and build the whole sheet as a single full-length portrait with the venue and title as top and bottom rails. Also when tone matters more than plot, let posture and props carry the genre.
