Why it works
The design makes the metaphor operate instead of illustrating it - the fog is drawn as negative space swallowing a black skyline, so the sheet is literally white encroaching on black, which is the play's argument about a Black family's prospects. Splitting the title between positive and reversed lettering across that boundary means the reader's eye performs the figure-ground flip, which is why the poster holds attention longer than a flat title would. The business block is quarantined in a solid black bar at the foot so the image stays uncluttered while every practical fact - address, phone, dates, curtain, two price tiers - is still on the sheet.
Steal this when
Your title is a concrete image and you can stage it as a figure-ground event rather than a drawing. Split the words across the boundary so the reader has to resolve the image to read the name.
