Schweizer Hilfstag für notleidende Schweizer im In- und Ausland
The pattern
This still is filed under Donor guilt appeal.
Define
The donor is asked to feel the cost of not giving, then given a precise act that relieves it.
Mechanism
Obligation then release. Close kin to problem-agitate-solve, aimed at a gift rather than a purchase. Handle with care.
Verdict
The need is real, the ask is specific, and the donor can act today.
Why it works
A relief appeal that never depicts suffering. Instead it inverts the subject: the giver sees release - butterflies leaving open hands - so the emotional payload is the outcome of the gift rather than the misery that justifies it. The sheet is split into two unmixed registers, a painterly image above and a flat typographic block below, which keeps the ask administrative in tone; the payment mechanics are the smallest line on the poster, so donating reads as a civic transaction, not as charity. The white cross does double duty as national emblem and Red Cross reference, borrowing two institutions without naming either.
Steal this when
Fundraising where showing the suffering would repel or exhaust the audience - lead with the image of relief, then hand the donor a plain, numbered, mechanical way to pay set in a separate block.
