Give to the needy
The pattern
This still is filed under Donor guilt appeal.
Define
The donor is asked to feel the cost of not giving, then given a precise act that relieves it.
Mechanism
Obligation then release. Close kin to problem-agitate-solve, aimed at a gift rather than a purchase. Handle with care.
Verdict
The need is real, the ask is specific, and the donor can act today.
Why it works
The appeal and the incentive are stacked in one column so the reader never has to decide between them: the moral ask is at the top, the fun is in the middle, the time and place are at the bottom. The milk bottle is the only illustration and it is literal on purpose, making an abstract fund into a physical object a coin can buy. The word MONSTER is doing the same job as 9 BIG ACTS on the commercial variety bills, importing showbill exaggeration into a charity appeal. The diagonal torn banner is the standard showcard device for the one detail that must not be missed, the date.
Steal this when
Use this when you are raising money and a direct appeal will underperform. Lead with the cause, make the middle of the piece an event people actually want to attend, and turn the abstract fund into one concrete object the reader can picture buying.
