Eat more corn, oats, and rye products- fish and poultry- fruits, vegetables, and potatoes, Baked, Broiled, and Boiled Foods. Eat less wheat, wheat sugar and fats to save for the army and our allies" poster
The pattern
This still is filed under Civilian war-duty equate.
Define
A civilian act (saving, making, staying quiet) is framed as the same duty as the front.
Mechanism
Moral equate. The small act inherits the gravity of the large one. The ask is ordinary. The meaning is not.
Verdict
We need mass compliance on an unglamorous behavior and can honestly tie it to a shared stake.
Why it works
It uses a clear 'Do this / Don't do this' dichotomy. The 'Eat More' list is intentionally much longer than the 'Eat Less' list to make the sacrifice feel small and the alternatives feel abundant.
Steal this when
You need to explain a complex set of rules or restrictions by clearly dividing them into allowed and forbidden categories.
