In my Maidenform bra" dream-campaign ad, Photoplay
The pattern
This still is filed under Campaign line as series.
Define
One line that can be replayed across executions so the campaign is a family, not a one-off.
Mechanism
Repeatable frame. Each ad is a verse. The line is the chorus. Recognition compounds because the structure is stable.
Verdict
We will run more than one execution and need them to add up in memory.
Why it works
The campaign's engine is first-person fantasy written in present tense, so the reader occupies the daydream rather than watching a model. The scandal of a woman undressed in public is defused by costuming the whole scene as a dream, which is why the format survived twenty years of magazine standards. The picture does all the shock work and the copy does all the flattery, so neither has to carry both jobs. The product detail and price sit at the very bottom in small type, positioned as the price of entry to the fantasy rather than as the pitch.
Steal this when
Use this when the product is functionally identical to competitors and the only available difference is the identity the buyer gets to try on. It also works when you need a single repeatable template that can generate hundreds of executions from one sentence stem.
