The pattern

This still is filed under Direct-mail response.

Define

A physical letter or pack whose only job is a measurable reply: an order, a donation, a call.

Mechanism

Response engineering. Outer, letter, lift, reply device. Every surface earns its keep or it is cut.

Verdict

We can mail, track, and fulfill, and the unit economics survive the stamp.

Read the pattern

Why it works

The headline names what every reader wants, a good income, then the copy blocks the easy path: that income needs high qualifications, and it asks if he is fit to win it. The school steps in as the way to earn those qualifications by post, backed by the claim of over four million students since 1891. A drawn man in a suit counting notes shows the goal, and a coupon asking for name, address and subject turns interest into a letter the same day.

The big idea

A good income is everyone's wish but needs high qualifications, and the ICS brings that training to the reader's door by post and helps him get ahead.

The offer

A free, fully explained catalogue for anyone who phones 53849, writes to 17 Sharia al-Manakh, Cairo, or sends the coupon with name, address and the subject wanted.

The proof

Over four million students helped since the schools were founded in 1891, and the claim to be among the largest and best-known postal schools in the world.

Lines from the ad

الربح الوافر...

A good income.

... هو أمنية كل فرد!

. is every person's wish.

فهل أنت أهل للفوز؟

So are you fit to win it?

Steal this when

Use it when you sell training toward a better job and can capture the lead with a short form on the ad itself.

The emotion

Written to Hope. It does neither clearly.

It names the wish for a good income, asks 'are you fit to win it?' and offers qualifications by post, but never says how long that takes or what a typical student gains.
