Define
The mark itself is the sentence: a monogram, a seal, a device that already means the claim.
Mechanism
Compression. Years of use, or a very sharp first use, load the device so it can appear without copy.

Why it works
The grid is the entire method. It converts a drawing into coordinates, so the shape can be re-cut at any size by a stranger with no designer present and no original file. The symbols are drawn as solid silhouettes with the interior detail knocked out rather than outlined, because at highway distance and speed the eye resolves mass and contour before it resolves line work. The deer and the thumb are reduced to one memorable outer contour instead of being rendered, which is what makes them readable in a fraction of a second and plottable by a machine. Pulling the arrows out into a dimension table indexed to letter cap height means the arrow is always sized as a function of the type it serves, so nobody has to judge it by eye.
Steal this when
Steal this when a mark will be redrawn by people you will never meet - franchisees, fabricators, print vendors, partner agencies - and consistency matters more than craft. Ship the artwork itself on a grid with a dimension table keyed to a single variable, instead of a written description of how the mark should look.
