Why it works
The picture is a scene at its worst moment - a man caught between two women, arms up - so the poster functions as a stopped frame rather than an illustration, and the only way to finish it is to buy the issue. Colour is doing the hierarchy: the flat yellow panel is the brightest field on the sheet and it holds the drama, while red is reserved for the two commercial facts, the border and the paper's name.
