Why it works
The cover is a single-element design and the element is a contrast of value: one pale rectangle on a large dark field, which is why the eye lands on it from across a room. Hierarchy is done entirely by scale and by flourish rather than by weight or colour - the category word is small, the connective is smaller still, and the name is enormous, so the reading order is forced without a single ruled line. Placing the label above centre is an optical correction: on a tall board a geometrically centred label reads as sagging. The swash and the terminal underline are not decoration but framing - they give the name a baseline and a lid, so a piece of freehand writing reads as a set title block.
Steal this when
Steal this when one word - a name, a number, a year - is genuinely the whole message and the substrate is dark, textured or unprintable. Paste one small light panel high on the field, set the one word large with everything else tiny, and let the surrounding emptiness do the framing.
