Why it works
The square format is itself the identity decision: it refuses the standard portrait magazine proportion, so the object is recognisable across a table before any lettering is read. Everything inside is built from one geometric rule - the rotated square and its facets - which lets figure, frame, star and lettering share the same angular vocabulary and read as a single carved surface. The arced, chamfered title is drawn to sit inside that geometry instead of sitting on top of it, so the word becomes part of the ornament rather than a label. Splitting the year to either side of the star centres the composition and dates it without a separate line of type.
