Why it works
The horn is aimed at the type, so the drawing gives the title a direction and an implied sound instead of merely decorating it. Contrast carries the hierarchy: the title sits in the only untouched white shape on a sheet otherwise full of wash and line, so it reads first at any distance. The back cover deliberately drops to bare geometry, which makes the front feel dense and important by comparison and keeps the case cheap to print.
Steal this when
Copy this when the name is the whole proposition and you want an image that points at it rather than competes with it. The empty-back, loaded-front split is the move whenever attention and budget should both be concentrated on the one face people actually see.
