Why it works
The title is lettered onto the sail rather than placed over the drawing, so the type is inside the picture plane and tilts with it - the words look like they are falling with the mill. Working in pure black line with no halftone is a production decision: the design can be printed in one ink on cloth or paper and still hold at thumbnail size on a shelf. The near-empty back board is deliberate too, keeping all the ink where a browser actually looks and letting the horizon line carry the eye across the spine.
Steal this when
Copy this when a cover has to work in one colour and at small size. Integrate the title into a drawn object that is already moving, and spend your ink on the front third while letting a single line tie the whole wrap together.
