Try Vio-Violet, a new Lundborg perfume - poster
The pattern
This still is filed under Keepable trade card.
Define
A small card people keep (pretty, useful, or collectible) that carries the brand after the encounter.
Mechanism
Retention object. The gift is the media. Recall is paid for by usefulness or delight, not by repetition.
Verdict
We can put a physical or digital keepable in someone's pocket and they will not throw it away.
Why it works
The product name is a pun on the flower, so the design spends everything on violets - in her hair, in her apron, falling from her hand - and never shows the bottle, which means the reader remembers a smell rather than a package. The outstretched arm and the falling cascade build a diagonal that carries the eye from the brand line at the foot back up through the headline, so the card reads in a loop rather than a single pass. Restricting the whole thing to violet on yellow makes the complementary pair do the shouting at window distance while the stipple supplies all the detail up close.
Steal this when
Use this when the product name is a literal picture of something: drop the packshot, fill the frame with the thing the name means, and hold the palette to two inks so the card survives being seen from across a shop.
