Trade card of Mary & Ann Hogarth, the Old Frock Shop
The pattern
This still is filed under Keepable trade card.
Define
A small card people keep (pretty, useful, or collectible) that carries the brand after the encounter.
Mechanism
Retention object. The gift is the media. Recall is paid for by usefulness or delight, not by repetition.
Verdict
We can put a physical or digital keepable in someone's pocket and they will not throw it away.
Why it works
It is a shop window on paper. The scene is the credibility device, premises, staff, stock on the shelf and customers already buying, so the reader sees a going concern before reading a word, and the royal arms over the arch attaches status to the doorway. The copy then runs as pure inventory, and the density is intentional: every fabric named is another chance to match what a particular reader came looking for. The removal notice is handled in the first sentence, from the old shop, removed to, so an address change becomes continuity rather than confusion. Terms land last, wholesale or retail at reasonable rates, which tells two different buyer types in six words that both are welcome.
Steal this when
Use this when one page has to serve as the entire shopfront: a credibility image of the real premises up top, then an exhaustive, specific list of what you stock, then the terms. It is the right structure whenever the range itself is the argument and buyers are searching for one particular item within it.
