Trade card for Perier, ironmonger
The pattern
This still is filed under Keepable trade card.
Define
A small card people keep (pretty, useful, or collectible) that carries the brand after the encounter.
Mechanism
Retention object. The gift is the media. Recall is paid for by usefulness or delight, not by repetition.
Verdict
We can put a physical or digital keepable in someone's pocket and they will not throw it away.
Why it works
Before street numbering, the shop sign was the brand, so the card leads with A la Teste Noire and the quay and lets the picture carry everything else. The proscenium framing and the putto lifting the curtain stage retail as a spectacle worth entering, which is a softer ask than a list of goods. The blank banner across the middle of the room is the working detail: it keeps the plate reusable as a bill head or receipt, so one expensive copperplate serves both identity and paperwork. One-point perspective funnels the eye down the room to the counter, which is exactly where the transaction is shown happening.
Steal this when
You sell from a physical place people have to find and walk into, and the room, the stock density and the service moment are more persuasive than any feature list.
