Trade card for James Figg, prizefighter
The pattern
This still is filed under Keepable trade card.
Define
A small card people keep (pretty, useful, or collectible) that carries the brand after the encounter.
Mechanism
Retention object. The gift is the media. Recall is paid for by usefulness or delight, not by repetition.
Verdict
We can put a physical or digital keepable in someone's pocket and they will not throw it away.
Why it works
It is a demonstration card, not a description: three quarters of the plate is spent showing the service in progress, with the crowd doing the selling, because a packed gallery is the proof that this man is who he says he is. The brick-wall ground is a deliberate trompe l'oeil that frames the card as a public bill and borrows the authority of a posted notice. The text then does only what the picture cannot, one line for the credential, two for how to find him, two for what is actually taught, ending on at home and abroad to widen the offer without adding a claim. Name set large and alone at the top of the inscription is the whole personal-brand argument: the man is the product.
Steal this when
Use this when the person is the product and the proof is an audience, a coach, a performer, a trainer. Show the service happening with the crowd in frame, then reduce the copy to credential, address and exactly what is taught.
