Trade card H. O'Neill & Co
The pattern
This still is filed under Keepable trade card.
Define
A small card people keep (pretty, useful, or collectible) that carries the brand after the encounter.
Mechanism
Retention object. The gift is the media. Recall is paid for by usefulness or delight, not by repetition.
Verdict
We can put a physical or digital keepable in someone's pocket and they will not throw it away.
Why it works
The card gives the buyer a picture worth keeping and charges nothing for it; the brand is the caption, not the subject. Printing in one ink keeps the tonal drawing coherent and made the card cheap enough to give away in volume. Boxing the name at the lower right puts it at the natural exit point of a left-to-right read, so the name lands last and sticks.
Steal this when
Use it when the goods themselves are undifferentiated and the job is recall, not conversion - branded giveaways, sponsored artwork, packaging inserts. Give something genuinely worth keeping and sign it small.
