Define
An image is dropped into the column of type so the reader meets picture and argument in one scan.
Mechanism
In-flow exhibit. The figure is not a separate see fig. 2. It starts the paragraph. Eye and mind start together.
Verdict
Long copy must show as well as tell: a product cutaway, a before/after, a map in the story.
Why it works
The specificity stack carries it. General charges of tyranny are unprovable, so the sheet converts the argument into a list of concrete, checkable acts, each starting with the same two words, so the repetition itself becomes the evidence of a pattern rather than an incident. The typographic hierarchy does the persuasion before a word is read: the reader sees UNANIMOUS and THIRTEEN before anything else, which pre-answers the objection that this is a faction speaking. Printing every delegate's name under his state turns an anonymous document into a joint personal liability, which is why this is the first printing to carry the names.
Steal this when
Steal this when you need an audience to accept a decision that looks reckless, and the case must survive hostile scrutiny. State the principle, then prove the breach with a parallel-constructed list of specific incidents, then sign it with the names of everyone who agrees so nobody can dismiss it as one person's complaint.
