Why it works
Two screens force every decision. Positive and negative are the only tools, so the cross is black on yellow and the kneeling figure is cut out of the same black, which fuses figure and symbol into one silhouette. The copy is kept entirely to the left column so the image is never interrupted, an early instance of the picture-and-text-block split that later poster design formalised. Yellow at that saturation is the cheapest attention device available in a screen shop and it survives dim lobby light. The phone number and named ticket agent turn an announcement into a purchasable action, which is the only line on the card that asks the reader to do something.
Steal this when
Use this when budget or process limits you to one colour plus black and the subject has an instantly recognisable symbol. The left-column copy stack against a full-bleed silhouette is the right layout when the image must be readable at distance and the detail only matters up close.
