Why it works
The entire premise is delivered by a costume contrast on two otherwise identical bodies, which is the cheapest possible way to state a two-hander drama and needs no subhead. Leaving the stock unflooded is a deliberate economy - one less screen pull - and it makes the cobalt suit the single brightest thing on the card. The green ground band is doing structural work, not scenic work: it separates the illustration from the price block and gives the reversed-out type a field to live in. Type colour is assigned by role throughout, black for the title, cobalt for authorship, green for venue and date, so the reader can jump straight to whichever answer they came for.
Steal this when
Use this when a single visual difference between two otherwise identical subjects is the whole story - before and after, plan A versus plan B, the client who did it and the one who did not. Also worth stealing when budget or print constraints reward leaving the paper as the background and spending colour only where meaning lives.
