Why it works
The whole image is built on a single vertical axis of light that functions as a reading path: the eye enters at the disturbed ground above, drops through the beam, and lands on the turtle. That light shaft does the work a caption would otherwise do, linking cause to consequence across three separate realms without a word. Scale is used as emphasis reversed: the falling figure is tiny and the turtle is large, so the destination reads as the point of the picture, not the fall.
Steal this when
Use this when a narrative has a clear before, during and after that live in different places, and you want one frame rather than three. Stack the states vertically and run a single continuous element, a beam, a line, a path, through all of them so the viewer follows the sequence without numbering it.
