Why it works
The image and the type split the sheet on a diagonal, drawn texture above and flat lettering below, so neither has to compete for the same space and both can run at full size. The chariot moves left while the reading order moves right, and that opposed tension is what stops the eye and holds it. The antique charioteer is pure borrowed equity, it asserts the classical Olympic frame without a single word of explanation. Colour does the whole hierarchy: black for the name of the event, green for the year and the venue, cream for city and dates.
Steal this when
Use this when a local event carries a borrowed prestige name and you need the name to feel inevitable rather than claimed. Give the top half to one high-motion classical image and keep the bottom half to flat type in three colour weights.
