Why it works
The poster carries no argument and no instruction, only a date and a picture of the correct behaviour. Showing the observance being performed by children rather than by officials makes the date feel like something passed down inside families, which is a stronger cue to act than any exhortation would be. Reducing everything to two inks on yellow lets the composition read as a single gesture at distance - the raised hat, the raised salute, the flowers crossing between them.
Steal this when
Use this when you want a date remembered and the behaviour is already known, so persuasion would only patronise. Show the act being performed by the generation you want to recruit, name the date large, and add nothing else.
