Why it works
The poster splits image and information into two hard registers instead of integrating them, which is what lets the picture stay ornamental and the practical detail stay readable at arm's length. The type panel is justified by force: words are broken mid-syllable, OU / VERTURE across lines, so every line runs full width and the block reads as a single red slab rather than as a ragged list. The price concession is set smaller and lower than the full price, which lands the one franc as the anchor and the Sunday fifty centimes as a break. The peacock is doing positioning work, not decoration: a bird whose whole function is display, drawn in the exact idiom the salon champions.
Steal this when
Use the two-register split whenever a beautiful image and a block of hard logistics are both mandatory and fighting each other: give the picture a clean rectangle and put dates, hours and prices in a separate justified slab underneath. The forced full-measure setting is worth copying any time you want a text block to read as one confident object rather than a list of details.
