Why it works
The faceless mother is the whole design decision - hiding her head under the load makes her a condition rather than a person, so nobody argues with her and all the emotion lands on the one visible face, the child's. The two bodies form a single vertical: burden on top, child at the bottom, which reads as cause and consequence before any word is processed. The blue arch acts as a halo and a spotlight at once, isolating the pair from a busy street wall. The type is jammed to full measure in the heaviest weight on the sheet, so the name of the day and its date survive at fifty paces while the drawing does the persuading up close.
Steal this when
Use this when the ask is a one-day donation drive and the argument must be made in a second, with no space for copy. The faceless-burden device is the one to copy when you need sympathy without pity and want the viewer to look at the beneficiary, not the sufferer.
