Why it works
The composition is held by one enormous flat circle against one enormous flat rectangle, so the poster is legible as two shapes before any detail resolves - the figure's rendered modelling is a reward for getting closer, not a requirement for reading it. The gold disc is doing double duty as a picture element and as the colony's logo, because the monogram and the year are struck into it like a coin, which makes the mark inseparable from the image. Lettering is drawn to match the armour, not set from a case, so the type and the illustration read as one manufactured object. Practical information is demoted to a three-column band at the foot, where a reader who has already been stopped will find it.

Copy this when an institution needs a poster that also carries its identity mark, and you want the logo lodged inside the picture rather than parked in a corner. It is also the right model whenever a rendered, detailed illustration has to work at poster distance: put it against one flat geometric mass and let that mass do the long-range reading.
