Why it works
Reduction as a memory test. The designer strips a public face to five flat shapes, which forces the viewer to complete the picture themselves, and the small act of recognition is what makes the poster stick. Overlapping the black title directly on the white beard collapses illustration and typography into one object instead of two stacked panels. The tilted head and slanted baselines put the whole composition slightly off-axis, which literally illustrates the title. The price is set smallest on purpose: it is an objection-remover placed after the decision, not a lead.
Steal this when
Use this when the strongest asset is a known face or a known name and the product detail is dull. Reduce the face to the fewest flat shapes that still read, then run the headline straight across it rather than around it.
