Why it works
The arc is the device. Title, figure and the black date band all follow the same rising curve, so the eye is carried from the smallest type at top left to the venue and price at bottom right in one uninterrupted sweep. Line art on bare stock was the cheapest possible reproduction, and the designer turned that constraint into charm rather than hiding it, using chimney smoke as connective tissue where a second colour would normally do the work. The price is deliberately the last thing you read and set small, because at 25 cents the number removes the objection rather than making the argument.

Reach for this when you have a one-colour budget and a date-and-price offer to land. Build a single curve through the layout and hang the headline, the art and the offer band on it so the reader never has to choose where to look next.
