Why it works

The display is built from three cheap parts - a dark screen, one stretched hand-lettered banner and a trestle - and every decision is about a short attention span in a distracting place. The banner is the only white horizontal in the scene, so the sponsor's name reads from the path before any artwork does. Work is hung at three heights, wall, table and floor, which means a child can meet it at their own level rather than looking up at an adult hang. Siting the stand against the zoo cage is the real move: the exhibit never has to generate its own crowd, it borrows one that arrived for the monkeys and stands in the same queue line. The dark screen is doing what a gallery wall cannot do outdoors, isolating pale painted sheets from a busy background of leaves and sky.

Steal this when

You have to show work, product or results to a walk-past audience in a place you do not control - a fair, a campus, a market, a conference concourse. Borrow an existing crowd's traffic line, put one high-contrast lettered banner above eye level for the name, and hang the goods at three heights.
